When Damon and Sharelle began planning their wedding in Rome, they envisioned something far beyond a traditional one-day celebration. They wanted to share the city they loved with their guests and create an immersive experience—one filled with history, beauty, exceptional food, and unforgettable moments.
With 40 guests travelling from around the world, Lily Happens designed and coordinated a truly itinerant wedding experience, allowing the couple and their loved ones to discover Rome through a series of carefully curated celebrations.
A welcome evening filled with surprises
The festivities began with a relaxed welcome aperitivo, giving guests the opportunity to meet, reconnect, and settle into the atmosphere of the Eternal City.
To make the evening even more memorable, Lily Happens arranged a surprise photo shoot for the couple. What began as a casual welcome gathering transformed into a collection of beautiful, spontaneous images—capturing Damon and Sharelle’s excitement and the joyful anticipation of the days ahead.
A wedding day among Rome’s ancient treasures
The following day, the celebration began at the historic Horti Sallustiani, one of Rome’s most evocative and historically significant locations.
Once part of the magnificent gardens commissioned by the Roman historian Sallust in the first century BC, the Horti Sallustiani reflect the layered beauty of the city’s past. Surrounded by elegant architecture, ancient history, and an atmosphere of timeless grandeur, the location provided a breathtaking setting for Damon and Sharelle’s ceremony.
The historic beauty of the Horti Sallustiani created the perfect backdrop: intimate yet majestic, deeply Roman, and filled with a sense of occasion. Every detail was carefully considered to complement the character of the location while allowing the couple’s personalities and love story to remain at the heart of the celebration.
From Trastevere to traditional Roman dining
After the ceremony, guests continued their journey through Rome with an aperitivo experience in Trastevere. This lively and atmospheric neighborhood offered a wonderful contrast to the grandeur of the Horti Sallustiani, introducing guests to the warmth, energy, and unmistakable character of contemporary Roman life.
The evening continued at Meo Patacca, one of Rome’s most traditional restaurants. Known for its authentic Roman atmosphere and classic cuisine, the restaurant provided the ideal setting for a joyful and convivial wedding dinner.
Here, guests gathered around the table to enjoy traditional Roman flavors, lively conversation, and the relaxed hospitality for which the city is so well known. The celebration was elegant without feeling formal, personal without being predictable, and unmistakably Roman.
